Each year, the last week of April marks the celebration of World Immunization Week. This year, we will celebrate April 24-30.
Vaccines save millions of lives every year. However – despite the fact that immunizations are one of the world’s most successful health interventions – there are still nearly 20 million children in the world today who are not getting the vaccines they need.
Vaccines Bring Us Closer
This year’s theme of ‘Vaccines bring us closer’ aims to increase trust and confidence in vaccines to maintain and increase vaccine acceptance, as well as to increase investment in vaccines to remove barriers to access.
It is a very timely theme, as we continue to work toward ‘normal’ again as more and more people receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Currently, all Pennsylvania adults are eligible to receive the vaccine. You can find more information about how to get vaccinated at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s website.
Don't Forget Routine Vaccines
It is important to remember that although our main focus is currently the COVID-19 vaccine, it is also very important to continue to keep up with routine vaccines.
Because after all, vaccines bring us closer!
